11Family History Help DeskFamily History Help DeskTime: 13:00 - 15:00
FOLIO Sutton Coldfield is delighted to bring you a monthly Family History Help Desk, in conjunction with Nuneaton and North Warwickshire Family History Society. Please PREBOOK to guarantee time with our highly experience Family History volunteer (there is no cost to book a slot). There are 6 guaranteed slots available each month. If you drop in to the library for these sessions without booking our volunteer will be happy to help you if she has no visitors who have pre-booked a session. If you arrive and our volunteer is busy, please say hello so she knows you would like to talk to her, but then do feel free to make use of our café whilst you wait. When you book your ticket you will be asked to indicate the time you are likely to arrive (between 1 and 3) at the help desk. Help desk sessions have usual library facilities for computers and Ancestry.co.uk. The experienced and friendly family historian volunteering at the help desk can assist in getting you started with family history research, chipping away at brick walls, and a whole variety of research techniques. If possible, please come with any details relating to your family history research that will help (such as names, dates/places of birth). Attending the Family History Help Desk is FREE. If you need to print documents during this session, usual library printing fees will apply.

12 13 14Reaching for the Moon! 11Reaching for the Moon! 11Time: 10:00 - 12:00
A hand-on science workshop for 8-12 year olds, exploring the inventions which got us to the Moon and back. Reaching for the Moon! is a series of 20 STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) workshops inspired by all the research needed to get Apollo 11 and her crew to the Moon and back again, 50 years ago this year. Each workshop, aimed at 8-12 year olds, will feature different inventions and engineering solutions, a lot of creativity and fun. The sessions will be hands-on and inventive. You can book as many workshops as you like (booking for each workshop opens 6 weeks ahead of the given date). Each workshop is different, even the two on the same day. So altogether there will be 20 different workshops. Kids can attend as many or as few as they like. They don't need to have attended any earlier workshop in the programme to be able to enjoy the later workshops. NB If you book your child onto two workshops on the same day, you are responsible for your child between the two workshops (12-1.30). We've teamed up with amazing science educators Femtinos thanks to a generous grant from The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). Places on these workshops must be booked (booking open 6 weeks before each workshop) and you can book your tickets here: https://bookwhen.com/foliosuttoncoldfield Please note: For the first time we a charging a small fee for these events. This isn't to make money, but rather a mechanism to try to ensure everyone who books a place, then attends; each workshop only has 15 places. If, however, the small fee is a barrier to your children attending, please message us and we will find a solution. FOLIO is committed to making sure that all our events are accessible by all.
